Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 Tbsp. butter, melted
  • 1/2 c. onion, chopped
  • 1 to 2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 3/4 c. canned tomatoes
  • 2 c. canned kidney beans
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • chili powder to taste

Method

  • Saute the onion in the butter.
  • Add ground beef and cook until well done.
  • Add 1 3/4 cups canned tomatoes and some water.
  • Add the beans, salt, bay leaf, sugar and chili powder.
  • Cover and cook slowly for about 1 hour.
  • Serve with tortillas or crackers.
