Ingredients

  • 4 lb. cut up chicken
  • 3 c. carrots, sliced
  • 3 c. potatoes, cubed
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • parsley flakes
  • gravy
  • baking powder biscuits

Method

  • In bit kettle, put chicken and add water to cover.
  • Cook on medium for 1 1/2 hours.
  • Remove chicken from kettle.
  • To broth, add the carrots, potatoes, celery and onion; cook for 15 minutes. Remove chicken from bones, cutting into pieces, and add to the broth.
  • Simmer 5 more minutes.
  • Remove everything from broth and put in a large roaster.
  • Mix cornstarch and water to make gravy; add to chicken broth which is boiling.
