Ingredients

  • 4 lb. chicken
  • 3 medium onions, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp. paprika
  • 1 Tbsp. shortening
  • 2 c. broth or water
  • 1/8 tsp. red pepper (optional)
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. sour cream

Method

  • Saute onions and paprika in shortening slowly for 10 minutes. Add disjointed chicken.
  • Cover pan and simmer until golden brown. Add broth; cook until tender, 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
  • Add water, if needed.
  • Blend flour, seasonings and sour cream 5 minutes before chicken is done.
  • Stir into mixture slowly.
  • Serve with noodles or dumplings.
