Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. granulated brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 tsp. soda
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1/3 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/4 c. chopped maraschino cherries
  • 2 Tbsp. grated orange peel

Method

  • Heat oven to 350°.
  • Cream brown sugar with butter in mixer bowl until light and fluffy.
  • Add flour, pumpkin pie spice, soda and egg; blend well.
  • Stir in walnuts.
  • Spread in greased 9-inch square pan.
  • Combine sugar, cherries and orange peel; mix well. Sprinkle over batter.
  • Bake at 350° for 18 to 22 minutes.
  • Cool; cut into finger bars.
  • Makes 24 bars.
