Ingredients
- 4 lb. pickling cucumbers, sliced
- 2 sliced onions
- 1/2 c. coarse salt
- 5 c. sugar
- 5 c. cider vinegar
- 1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
- 1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
Method
- Cover cucumbers, onions and salt with cold water. Set for 3 hours.
- (Be sure to use glass or plastic bowl.)
- Mix the remaining ingredients in a large saucepan. Simmer for 1/2 hour. Drain water from cucumbers. Place cucumbers in jars and top with hot liquid. Best if you wait a month before eating.
