Ingredients

  • 1/2 cups Butter
  • 1-1/4 cup Flour, Divided
  • 2 Tablespoons Powdered Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/8 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 4 ounces, weight Bottle Of Maraschino Cherries, Cut Up, Including Juice
  • 3/4 cups Finely Chopped Walnuts

Method

  • Cut butter into 1 cup of the flour and the powdered sugar, as if you are making pie dough. Spread into a 9 x 13" pan and bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees (F). Cool and once cooled spread with the filling below.
  • For the filling, combine: 2 eggs, 1 cup sugar, 1/4 cup flour, baking powder, salt, vanilla. Then fold in the cut up cherries and finely chopped walnuts. Spread the filling into the cooled pie shell.
  • Bake another 15 minutes or until lightly golden brown on top. Cut into squares while still warm.
