Ingredients

  • 2 c. sharp cheese, grated
  • 1 stick margarine, softened
  • 1 1/2 c. plain flour, sifted
  • dash of red pepper (cayenne)
  • 2 egg whites (room temperature)

Method

  • Mix all ingredients, except egg whites, together to form dough. Roll into 2 long rolls.
  • Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  • Next day, cut into 1/8-inch circles.
  • Beat egg whites lightly and brush onto each cheese circle.
  • Place a pecan half on each circle before the egg whites begin to dry.
  • Bake at 350° for 18 minutes.
