Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 2 c. bread crumbs
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 c. milk
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup

Method

  • Add onion, garlic, bread crumbs, milk, beaten egg yolks, salt, pepper and nutmeg to hamburger.
  • Beat egg whites stiff; fold into hamburger mixture.
  • Pinch off small bits and roll into tiny balls, keeping hands well-greased with cooking oil to ensure smooth balls.
  • Place, uncovered, in greased casserole dish.
  • Cook at 375° for 35 minutes.
  • Pour mushroom soup over top; bake for another 10 minutes.
