Ingredients

  • 36 Kraft caramels (must be Kraft)
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1/4 c. margarine
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. pecan halves
  • 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie shell

Method

  • Melt caramels with water and margarine over low heat.
  • Stir frequently until sauce is smooth.
  • Combine sugar, eggs, vanilla and salt.
  • Gradually add caramel sauce and mix well.
  • Stir in nuts and pour into pie shell.
  • Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes.
  • Pie filling will appear to be very soft, but will become firm as it cools.
