Ingredients

  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp. onion, chopped very fine
  • 1 large or 2 small cans mushroom pieces and stems, drained
  • salt to taste
  • 1 loaf white bread
  • butter or margarine

Method

  • Mix cream cheese, egg yolk, onion and salt in bowl.
  • Brown mushrooms in butter or margarine.
  • Add mushrooms to cream cheese mixture.
  • Cut rounds of bread about 2 inches in diameter.
  • Toast one side under broiler; butter untoasted side.
  • Heap cream cheese mixture on rounds.
  • Broil for a very few minutes, until they bubble and brown slightly.
  • Serve warm.
