Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c. sifted confectioners sugar

Method

  • Melt butter or margarine in heavy saucepan over low heat. Blend in brown sugar and cream.
  • Stirring constantly, bring to boiling and cook until sugar is completely dissolved, about 1 minute.
  • Remove from heat and cool to lukewarm (110°).
  • Gradually add the sifted confectioners sugar, beating until blended after each addition.
  • If necessary, continue beating until thick enough to spread.
  • Yields 1 1/2 cups.
