Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla or almond extract
  • 3-1/2 cups self-rising flour

Method

  • Cream butter and brown sugar together, add egg, milk and flavoring.
  • Blend in self-rising flour; mix thoroughly.
  • Chill 2 hours.
  • Roll out dough on floured pastry cloth or board to l/8-inch thickness.
  • Sprinkle with sugar.
  • Cut into rounds of 2-l/2-inch. Bake on ungreased baking sheet at 400° for 6-9 mins.
