Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
  • 2/3 c. evaporated milk (separated)
  • 3/4 c. margarine
  • 1 pkg. (about 50) caramels
  • 1 c. chocolate chips

Method

  • Mix together cake mix, margarine and 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Pat half of mixture in greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  • Bake at 350° for 6 minutes.
  • Melt caramels with 1/3 cup evaporated milk.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips on baked mixture, then pour caramels over this. Put remaining cake mix on top.
  • Bake 20 minutes longer.
