Ingredients

  • 3 pkt cream cheese - (8 ounce) softened
  • 1/2 c. butter softened
  • 1 pkt crumbled blue cheese - (4 ounce)
  • 1/2 c. diced walnuts toasted
  • 1/2 c. minced fresh chives
  • 1/4 c. cream sherry (optional)
  • 1 x round bread loaf - (16 ounce) Toasted diced walnuts Minced fresh chives Rosemary sprigs

Method

  • Stir together first 5 ingredients and, if you like, sherry in a large bowl; cover and refrigeratemix 8 hrs.
  • Let stand at room temperature to soften; or possibly freeze spread up to 1 month, and thaw in the refrigerator for 8 hrs.
  • Hollow out bread loaf, leaving a 1-inch-thick shell; reserve inside of loaf for other uses.
  • Spoon softened cheese spread into shell.
  • Garnish, if you like.
  • Serve with sliced apples and pears or possibly with toasted French baguette slices.
  • This recipe yields about 5 c. (24 appetizer servings).
