Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 tsp. flour
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. milk
- 4 yolks (reserve whites for meringue)
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Method
- Mix together all ingredients and beat well.
- Place pan on stove on medium heat and bring to a boil; stir.
- In an iron skillet, melt one cup of sugar until "good and dark."
- Add to other ingredients, stirring constantly until it thickens.
- Bake in two unbaked pie shells at 350° until done.
- Beat the four egg whites until stiff, adding about 1/4 cup sugar.
- Put on pies and brown.
