Ingredients

  • 6 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1 2/3 c. milk
  • 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Method

  • Melt butter in small pan; add sugar.
  • Cook until sugar melts. Add boiling water, stir until sugar dissolves.
  • Cool.
  • Mix in small bowl cornstarch, flour and salt.
  • Add milk gradually.
  • Add to sugar mixture.
  • Cook and stir constantly, bring to boil until thick.
  • Add egg yolks, slightly beaten.
  • Add a little mixture to keep eggs from cooking.
  • Mix together.
  • Add vanilla.
  • Pour into baked pastry shell.
