Ingredients
- 6 Tbsp. butter
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 c. boiling water
- 1 2/3 c. milk
- 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Method
- Melt butter in small pan; add sugar.
- Cook until sugar melts. Add boiling water, stir until sugar dissolves.
- Cool.
- Mix in small bowl cornstarch, flour and salt.
- Add milk gradually.
- Add to sugar mixture.
- Cook and stir constantly, bring to boil until thick.
- Add egg yolks, slightly beaten.
- Add a little mixture to keep eggs from cooking.
- Mix together.
- Add vanilla.
- Pour into baked pastry shell.
