Ingredients
- 2 c. chopped pecans
- 1 1/4 c. real butter
- 3 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 c. milk
- 2 tsp. vanilla
Method
- Toast nuts in 1/4 cup butter in a 350° oven for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Cream 1 cup of butter and gradually add sugar.
- Cream well. Blend in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.
- Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.
- Stir in vanilla and 1 1/3 cups of nuts.
- Bake in three 9-inch layer cake pans at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.
- Cool and spread with Butter Pecan Frosting.
