Ingredients

  • 2 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 1/4 c. real butter
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Toast nuts in 1/4 cup butter in a 350° oven for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Cream 1 cup of butter and gradually add sugar.
  • Cream well. Blend in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.
  • Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.
  • Stir in vanilla and 1 1/3 cups of nuts.
  • Bake in three 9-inch layer cake pans at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Cool and spread with Butter Pecan Frosting.
