Ingredients

  • 5 c. flour
  • 4 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 c. oil or melted shortening
  • 2 c. milk or water
  • 5 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt

Method

  • Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water.
  • Combine other dry ingredients.
  • When yeast is dissolved, add all liquids to flour mixture.
  • Work into a smooth dough, kneading for 5 minutes. Biscuits may be formed and baked immediately or stored in a covered bowl (in refrigerator) and baked as needed.
  • This dough may be used for pizza crust.
  • Turn over crust wrapped around wieners and baked or for any variety of cobbler.
