Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. bacon, ham or sausage, diced
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 10 slices bread cubes (preferably sourdough French)
  • 1/2 lb. Swiss cheese, grated
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 c. milk
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper

Method

  • Beat together eggs, milk, salt and pepper.
  • Saute meat and green pepper.
  • Spread half of bread cubes in a shallow 2-quart casserole.
  • Sprinkle half of meat mixture and put cheese over. Repeat.
  • Pour eggs and milk mixture over.
  • Let stand 1/2 hour or overnight in refrigerator.
  • Bake 45 minutes at 350°.
