Ingredients
- 1 lb. broccoli or 2 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen
- 2 c. small whole onions
- 1/2 c. margarine
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 c. milk
- 1 c. sharp shredded cheese
- 1 c. soft bread crumbs
- 1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
Method
- Cook broccoli; drain.
- In saucepan, melt half of the margarine.
- Blend in flour, salt and a dash of pepper.
- Add milk. Cook, stirring constantly, until thick.
- Reduce heat; blend in cream cheese until smooth.
- Place broccoli and onions in a 1 1/2-quart casserole.
- Pour sauce mixture over and mix lightly. Top with cheese.
- Melt remaining butter; toss with bread crumbs. Sprinkle atop casserole.
- Bake at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes.
