Ingredients
- 9 slices white bread
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 (13 oz.) can evaporated milk
- 2 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 4 egg yolks
- 1/3 c. melted butter
- 4 egg whites
- 1 pinch cream of tartar
Method
- Break bread in small pieces.
- Place in mixing bowl with 1 cup sugar, evaporated milk, milk, vanilla, egg yolks and butter.
- Mix well.
- Pour into 10 x 8 x 2-inch size baking pan.
- Bake in oven at 325° for 45 minutes.
- Remove and make meringue.
