Ingredients

  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/3 c. oil
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Combine the first 4 ingredients; beat well.
  • Stir in chocolate chips.
  • Set aside.
  • Mix flour, sugar, cocoa, soda and salt.
  • Add remaining ingredients to the flour mixture and beat well.
  • Fill muffin cups 1/3 full with chocolate batter; top with heaping teaspoonfuls of cream cheese mixture.
  • Sprinkle with granulated sugar and chopped nuts.
  • Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Makes 18 cupcakes.
