Ingredients

  • 1 turkey
  • salt, pepper and sage (to taste)
  • 1 apple
  • 1 onion
  • 1 potato
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 piece celery

Method

  • Wash and clean turkey.
  • Season to taste.
  • Place apple, onion, potato, carrot and celery inside bird.
  • Place in a roasting pan large enough to cover (or cover tightly with foil).
  • Add 3 quarts water in roasting pan; cover, bring to a boil and boil 15 minutes. Place in preheated oven (475°) for 45 minutes.
  • Turn oven off and leave in oven to steam overnight.
  • Do not open oven door until morning.
  • Turkey will be browned and moist.
  • Lots of broth for dressing and soups.
