Ingredients

  • 2 lb. sirloin steak or lesser cut of meat, cut 1-inch thick
  • 2 c. sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1 c. finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 c. butter or shortening
  • 2 Tbsp. tomato paste
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. sour cream
  • 3 beef Bouillon cubes
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 2 Tbsp. flour

Method

  • In a large skillet, saute mushrooms and onions in 3 tablespoons butter until golden brown.
  • Remove from skillet.
  • Add remaining butter.
  • Brown meat on all sides, 15 minutes.
  • Dissolve bouillon in boiling water.
  • Pour over meat.
  • Add tomato paste, mustard and salt.
  • Cover.
  • Simmer 45 minutes, until tender.
