Ingredients

  • 2 lb. cubed lean beef
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 3 1/2 c. water
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 6 medium potatoes, cubed
  • 4 medium onions, cut up
  • 1 c. tomato ketchup
  • 1/2 c. dry red wine
  • 1 (10 oz.) pkg. peas

Method

  • Put in large saucepan and brown meat well in shortening; add water, onion, salt, Worcestershire sauce and pepper.
  • Cover; simmer 45 minutes until meat is tender, occasionally stir.
  • Add potatoes, carrots, onion, peas, ketchup and wine.
  • Cover and simmer for about 20 minutes.
