Ingredients

  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1/2 whole Onion, Chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Oregano
  • 1- 1/2 cup Chicken Broth, Divided
  • 2 whole Sweet Potatoes, Peeled And Cut Into 1/2-inch Pieces
  • 1/2 teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 8 ounces, weight Lean Ground Beef Browned
  • 1- 1/2 Tablespoon Chili Powder
  • 1 piece Perfect Fuel Chocolate, 2 Ounce Piece (or Substitute Bittersweet Chocolate), Shaved
  • 2 whole Carrots, Chopped
  • 1 cup Tomatoes, Chopped
  • 1/2 cups Tomato Sauce
  • 15 ounces, weight Canned Chickpeas, Rinsed And Drained

Method

  • Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add onions and saute for 5-8 minutes, or until softened.
  • Mix in garlic powder and cook, stirring for 1-2 more minutes.
  • Add in cumin and oregano and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Pour in 1/4 cup broth.
  • Add in chopped sweet potato and cinnamon and saute, covered, for 5 minutes.
  • Add in cooked hamburger meat.
  • Stir in chili powder, then add chopped chocolate, carrots, tomatoes, sauce, and another 1/2 cup broth.
  • Place lid on the pot and cook for 10 minutes or until vegetables are tender, stirring often as to help the mixture absorb the liquid.
  • Add in chickpeas and pour in remaining broth.
  • Cook for 10-15 minutes.
  • Once done, remove from heat and season with salt, if desired.
  • Serve warm.
