- 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
- 1/2 whole Onion, Chopped
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1 teaspoon Cumin
- 1 teaspoon Oregano
- 1- 1/2 cup Chicken Broth, Divided
- 2 whole Sweet Potatoes, Peeled And Cut Into 1/2-inch Pieces
- 1/2 teaspoons Cinnamon
- 8 ounces, weight Lean Ground Beef Browned
- 1- 1/2 Tablespoon Chili Powder
- 1 piece Perfect Fuel Chocolate, 2 Ounce Piece (or Substitute Bittersweet Chocolate), Shaved
- 2 whole Carrots, Chopped
- 1 cup Tomatoes, Chopped
- 1/2 cups Tomato Sauce
- 15 ounces, weight Canned Chickpeas, Rinsed And Drained
Method
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add onions and saute for 5-8 minutes, or until softened.
- Mix in garlic powder and cook, stirring for 1-2 more minutes.
- Add in cumin and oregano and cook for 30 seconds.
- Pour in 1/4 cup broth.
- Add in chopped sweet potato and cinnamon and saute, covered, for 5 minutes.
- Add in cooked hamburger meat.
- Stir in chili powder, then add chopped chocolate, carrots, tomatoes, sauce, and another 1/2 cup broth.
- Place lid on the pot and cook for 10 minutes or until vegetables are tender, stirring often as to help the mixture absorb the liquid.
- Add in chickpeas and pour in remaining broth.
- Cook for 10-15 minutes.
- Once done, remove from heat and season with salt, if desired.
- Serve warm.
