Ingredients
- 1 c. butter
- 1 c. milk
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 3 c. plain flour
- 4 large eggs, separated
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- pinch of salt
Method
- Cream butter until it is light and fluffy.
- Add sugar, a little at a time, mixing after each addition.
- Sift flour with salt and baking powder three times.
- Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating after each addition.
- Add flour alternately with milk, adding a bit of flour last.
- Beat egg whites and add to batter, using a folding method.
- Add vanilla.
- Bake in a well-greased tube pan, three 9-inch pans, sheet cake pan or make muffins.
- Bake at 350° until cake springs back when pressed with fore finger. Frost with your favorite frosting or enjoy plain.
