Ingredients

  • 4 large thinly sliced onions
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 2 (10 oz.) can condensed beef broth
  • 1 c. white wine or dry sherry
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 2 c. (8 oz.) shredded Swiss cheese
  • 6 slices French bread, buttered and toasted
  • 1/3 c. shredded Parmesan cheese

Method

  • Saute onions in butter until limp.
  • Mix in undiluted beef broth, wine, Worcestershire sauce and garlic salt.
  • Heat thoroughly.
  • Ladle in
  • 4 to 6 ovenproof bowls
  • Sprinkle 1/2 of shredded Swiss cheese over soup.
