Ingredients

  • 4 lrg Onions
  • 1 1/2 c. Fine dry bread crumbs (half whole wheat preferred)
  • 1/2 tsp Poultry seasoning
  • 3 Tbsp. Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 x Egg (no substitutes please)
  • 1 Tbsp. Water

Method

  • Slice each onion about 1/4-inch thick and separate into rings.
  • Soak in cool, salted water about 30 min.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Combine bread crumbs, poultry seasoning and Parmesan.
  • In a separate bowl mix egg and water; beat well.
  • Dip onion rings into bread crumb mix, then into egg mix, then into crumbs again.
  • Salt lightly, if you like.
  • Arrange rings on greased jelly roll pan, cover with foil and bake in a warm oven (400 degrees) for 10 min.
  • Remove foil and continue baking 20 min more, or possibly till crispy.
  • Serve immediately.
