Ingredients
- 2 c. flour
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. Crisco shortening
- 1 pkg. or 1 yeast cake
- 1 c. buttermilk
Method
- Dissolve yeast in 2 tablespoons hot water.
- Mix in all ingredients.
- Mix well.
- Place on floured board.
- Sprinkle with flour and knead well.
- Keep adding flour until it is the desired thickness of biscuit dough.
- Cover and place in the refrigerator. It will keep several days.
- Pinch off what you want to bake; roll out on floured board and cut out.
- A juice glass makes an ideal biscuit cutter.
- Place in greased bread pan and bake at 400° for about 10 to 12 minutes.
