Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped (about 3/4 cup)
  • 1/2 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 3/4 cup lightly packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hot chili sauce with garlic (such as A Taste of Thai)
  • 2 tablespoons dry sherry
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger

Method

  • Heat sesame oil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion; cook 2 minutes or until tender. Add vinegar and remaining ingredients; combine with a whisk. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer 7 minutes.
