Ingredients
- 4 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 stick butter
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. light Karo syrup
- 8 slices French bread, sliced 3/4-inch thick
Method
- Melt butter in saucepan.
- Add brown sugar and Karo.
- Cook over medium heat until bubbly.
- Pour into 13 x 9 greased pan.
- Add all of apple slices.
- Beat eggs.
- Add milk and vanilla to eggs. Dip slices of French bread into milk mixture and layer over top of apples in pan.
- Refrigerate overnight.
- Bake, uncovered, in 350° oven for 35 minutes.
- To serve, use spatula and invert each slice of bread on serving plates.
- Spoon apples over top.
