- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 100 g softened unsalted butter, cubed
- 12 cup brown sugar
- 12 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
- 3 apples
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 14 cup raisins
- 14 teaspoon ground allspice
- 14 teaspoon ground cloves
- 14 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon honey
Method
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Add cider vinegar to milk.
- Peel and chop apples.
- Toss with lemon juice, raisins, spices, and honey.
- Sift flour, baking powder, and soda.
- Rub in butter until mealy.
- Add sugar and milk mixture.
- Knead dough, adding more flour if sticky.
- Roll out half of dough to cover bottom of 8-inch square pie dish.
- Spoon apple mixture over.
- Roll out rest of dough to cover, and cut vents in top.
- Bake for 45 minutes, or until top is browned.
