Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter (not margarine)
  • 1 1/3 c. granulated sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. water
  • 1 Tbsp. light corn syrup
  • 1 c. coarsely chopped almonds
  • 1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips, melted
  • 1 c. finely chopped toasted almonds

Method

  • In large saucepan, melt butter.
  • Add sugar, syrup and water. Cook, stirring constantly, to hard crack (300°).
  • Quickly stir in coarsely chopped almonds.
  • Spread in well-greased 9 x 13-inch metal pan (no glass).
  • Cool thoroughly; turn onto waxed paper. Spread with 1/2 melted chocolate.
  • Sprinkle with 1/2 chopped almonds.
  • Cover with wax paper; turn over and spread with rest of chocolate and sprinkle with nuts.
  • Break into pieces after chocolate hardens.
