Ingredients

  • 1 head lettuce
  • 3/4 c. celery, chopped
  • 3/4 c. green pepper, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, sliced thin
  • 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas
  • mayonnaise (1 c. or more)
  • 10 oz. sharp Cheddar, grated
  • 1 lb. bacon, crisp and crumbled
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar

Method

  • Wash and dry lettuce (not wet); break up.
  • Layer in large flat bowl the lettuce, celery, pepper and onion.
  • Sprinkle peas over top.
  • Cover with mayonnaise.
  • Sprinkle sugar on top, then cheese and bacon last.
  • Cover tightly and refrigerate for 24 hours.
  • Press salad down to get cover on if necessary.
