Ingredients

  • 6 c. lettuce, chopped
  • salt
  • pepper
  • sugar
  • 6 eggs, hard-cooked and sliced
  • 1 (10 oz.) pkg. peas, thawed (2 c.)
  • 16 oz. bacon, crisp cooked, drained and crumbled (about 1 1/2 c.)
  • 2 c. (8 oz.) Swiss cheese, shredded (natural)
  • 1 c. or more mayonnaise or salad dressing
  • 1/4 c. green onion with tops, sliced
  • paprika

Method

  • Place 3 cups lettuce in bottom of large bowl.
  • Sprinkle with salt, pepper and sugar.
  • Layer eggs on top of the lettuce in the bowl.
  • Sprinkle with more salt, if desired.
  • Layer in order: peas, remaining lettuce, bacon and Swiss cheese.
  • Spread mayonnaise over top, sealing to edge of bowl.
  • Cover and chill 24 hours.
  • Garnish with green onions and paprika.
  • Salad can be tossed before serving.
  • Makes 12 to 15 servings.
