Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. flour
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 pt. milk

Method

  • Mix all ingredients, adding milk gradually.
  • Cover and let stand 1/2 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 425° (this is the secret to success).
  • Muffin tins should be greased and very hot prior to placing batter in them.
  • Only pour about 1/2 inch into each tin. Cook approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
  • It should rise and brown. If taken out too early, it will be soggy.
  • If oven and tin are not hot enough, it won't brown.
  • Normally served with roast beef, potatoes and gravy.
