Ingredients
- 3/4 c. milk
- 3/4 c. water
- 1/4 c. margarine
- 4 1/2 to 5 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 (1/4 oz.) pkg. active dry yeast
- 1 egg
Method
- Grease large bowl.
- Heat milk, water and butter in a saucepan until very warm (120° to 130°).
- Combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, salt and yeast in mixing bowl.
- Add heated mixture and egg.
- Beat with electric mixer on high speed 2 minutes.
- Stir in enough flour to make soft dough.
- Turn dough onto floured board.
- Cover with mixing bowl. Let set 10 minutes.
- Knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 to 10 minutes.
- Form ball with dough and place in greased bowl.
- Turn once to grease top.
- Cover and let rise in warm place, free from draft, until double in bulk, about 45 minutes.
