Ingredients
- 1 qt. warm water
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 large yeast cakes
- flour (about 2 1/2 sifters full)
Method
- Dissolve the yeast in the warm water, then add sugar and shortening.
- Add salt and flour.
- Knead until smooth, then put back in bowl and grease the top.
- Let rise until double, then knead on bread board.
- Put into loaf pans; grease the top.
- Let rise to fill the pan.
- Bake at 375° for 30 minutes, or until loaves sound hollow when knocked.
