Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 lb lamb or 1 lb mutton, cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • 1 turnip, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, finely sliced
  • 1 14 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Method

  • In a deep sided skillet, heat the oil and stir fry the lamb cubes for 2 minutes, until the cubes are lightly browned on all sides.
  • Transfer meat to a dutch oven and add all of the other ingredients.
  • Mix well.
  • Bring to a boil and then cover.
  • Allow to simmer on low heat for 35 minutes.
  • Serve over rice.
