Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 1 c. powdered sugar
  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. oil
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 5 c. sifted flour
  • granulated sugar to dip to bake

Method

  • Cream butter with powdered sugar and 1 cup granulated sugar. Beat in eggs until smooth and creamy.
  • Slowly stir in oil, vanilla, baking soda, cream of tartar, salt and flour.
  • Chill dough.
  • Shape into walnut size balls.
  • Roll balls in granulated sugar.
  • Place on baking sheet; press down gently with bottom of glass.
  • Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Makes 4 dozen.
