Ingredients

  • 1 (6 oz.) box Uncle Ben's wild rice
  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 2 Tbsp. flour (plain)
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. buttered mushrooms

Method

  • Cook rice according to directions.
  • Pour rice into colander and drain well.
  • Melt butter; add flour and stir until a thick paste.
  • Add milk slowly.
  • Add cream cheese and stir until melted and sauce is smooth.
  • Butter 1 1/2-quart (8 x 8-inch) casserole. Layer rice, mushrooms and cream cheese sauce.
  • Repeat until dish is filled.
  • Save enough sauce to put generous amount of sauce on top.
  • Bake at 325° for 20 to 30 minutes or until mixture is hot.
