Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. Crisco shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 egg yolks, reserve whites
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 c. milk

Method

  • Combine flour, baking soda, salt and baking powder; set aside. In a large mixer bowl beat shortening, egg yolks and sugar until creamy.
  • Add cocoa powder and vanilla.
  • Add flour a little at a time, alternating with the milk.
  • Beat until smooth.
  • Drop dough by 1/2 tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake in 350° oven for 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Remove to a wire rack and let it cool.
