Ingredients

  • 1 c. whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 c. dry milk
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 envelope dry yeast
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1 c. very warm water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. white flour

Method

  • Mix the first 6 ingredients.
  • Add the very warm water.
  • Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes. Add the egg and 1/2 cup white flour. Beat on high speed for 2 minutes.
  • Add 1/2 cup white flour (or enough to make a thick batter).
  • Cover and let rise about 1hour. Stir down and fill muffin pans 1/2 full.
  • (Raisins, bananas, apples or other fruits may be added before filling pans.) Let rise about 1 hour. Bake at 375° until brown.
