Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed firmly
  • 1 egg
  • 1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 10 oz. white chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 c. Macadamia nuts, lightly toasted

Method

  • Cream butter and shortening; gradually add sugars, beating well at medium speed. Add egg and beat well. In a separate bowl, combine flour, soda and salt; add to butter mixture, mixing well. Stir in vanilla, white chocolate and nuts. Chill for 1 hour.
  • Drop dough by spoonful 3-inches apart onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes. (Cookies will be soft.) Cool slightly on cookie sheet; remove to wire rack to cool completely. Yield: 3 dozen.
