Ingredients

  • 1 12 cups sugar
  • 12 cup shortening
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon coconut flavoring
  • 2 14 cups cake flour, sifted
  • 3 12 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 egg whites
  • 12 cup shortening
  • 14 cup butter
  • 1 lb powdered sugar, sifted
  • 13 cup water
  • 14 cup non-fat powdered milk
  • 1 teaspoon coconut flavoring
  • 14 teaspoon salt

Method

  • Cream sugar and shortening.
  • Add vanilla and coconut flavoring.
  • Sift dry ingredients together.
  • Add alternately to creamed mixture with milk.
  • Add egg whites.
  • Beat 2-3 minutes on high speed of electric mixer.
  • Pour into 2 greased and floured 8-in.
  • pans.
  • Bake in 350 degree oven 30-35 minutes.
  • Frost when cool.
  • Frosting:.
  • Cream shortenings and powdered sugar.
  • Reconstitute milk in water and add to creamed mixture with coconut flavoring and salt.
  • Beat at least 5 minutes.
  • Spread on cake.
