Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 3 or 4 c. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. Crisco

Method

  • Put dry yeast into large bowl; add flour and stir until yeast has dissolved.
  • Add Crisco, sugar and salt; stir until dissolved. Add flour gradually, one cup at a time.
  • Mix thoroughly.
  • After all the flour has been mixed thoroughly, knead dough for about 5 minutes.
  • Grease bowl and put dough in warm place, allowing it to rise until doubled in size.
  • Cover bowl.
  • When risen, punch dough down and knead again.
  • Divide dough and put into greased bread pans.
  • Allow to rise again.
  • Bake at 350° until brown.
  • Makes 2 loaves.
