Ingredients
- 1 c. Crisco
- 5 eggs (save 2 whites for icing)
- 3 c. flour (if plain, add 1 tsp. salt)
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 c. pecans, finely chopped
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. walnut flavoring
- 1 can walnuts, finely chopped
Method
- Cream together shortening and sugar.
- Stir in other ingredients, saving half the nuts and 2 egg whites for the icing and using half the nuts in the cake batter.
- Bake in four layers for 20 to 25 minutes at 375°.
