Ingredients

  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 lg. can of tomato sauce or a jar of canned tomatoes
  • 1 c. chopped onions
  • 4 potatoes diced into bite size pieces
  • 1 can corn
  • 1 can peas
  • 1 can green beans
  • 3 carrots cut into bite size pieces
  • 1 tsp. cilantro
  • 2 tsp. worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. garlic
  • bay leaf

Method

  • Cook potatoes and carrots in the juices from the canned vegetables until tender. Saute the hamburger with the onions and garlic, drain well. Place the hamburger into the pot with the potatoes and carrots, add the tomato sauce and vegetables. Add worcestershire sauce, cilantro, and bay leaf. (Can also add rosemary, thyme, or other herbs to taste.) Let soup simmer for about an hour. It ends up being more of a stew than a soup. Great with cornbread.
