Ingredients
- 2 1/2 c. water
- 1 pkg. yeast cake
- 2 tsp. salt
- 4 Tbsp. sugar (granulated)
- 4 Tbsp. soft shortening
- 6 c. flour, sifted
Method
- Dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Add shortening, salt, sugar and half the flour.
- Beat 2 minutes at medium mixer speed.
- Add remaining flour and blend with spoon until smooth.
- Cover with cloth and let raise for 30 minutes.
- Beat 255 strokes and spread it evenly in greased pans.
- Let raise 45 minutes.
- Bake at 375° for 45 to 50 minutes.
